On a cold, rainy Thursday afternoon in Capitol Hill, dozens of excited fans lined up on the side of the road, stretching multiple blocks down the street. Bright letters above them read “NEUMOS,” accompanied by colorful murals and brightly lit neon signs. The gloomy Seattle sky overshadowed the luminous street, and groups of friends chattered together excitedly. Clad in baggy jeans, collared shirts, and leather loafers, fans eagerly awaited the arrival of the hit singer and songwriter, Yung Kai. We were so fortunate to obtain press passes and write a concert review of Yung Kai’s “stay with the ocean, i’ll find you” tour.
After initially gaining recognition from TikTok, Yung Kai frequently posted guitar covers of himself, kickstarting his music career. In 2024, his hit single Blue went viral on TikTok and Instagram, accompanied by a meme of the popular streamer IShowSpeed. The song peaked at 19th on the Billboard Global 200, gathering over a billion streams across streaming platforms. On September 26, 2025, Yung Kai released his debut album, stay with the ocean, i’ll find you which featured hit singles Blue and Wildflower. Gaining inspiration from artists Laufey, Keshi, and wave to earth, Yung Kai’s work features soft vocals and dreamy guitar instrumentals, giving his music a bedroom-pop-like atmosphere.
Putting those vocals and instrumental talent together, the show started at 7 p.m., with an opening by Breezee. Breezee, a 17-year-old Filipino R&B singer, started releasing music in 2020. He quickly rose to fame and gained traction on social media, releasingeven more music. He opened with his most famous song, “So in Love,” which has amassed over 14 million streams on [specify which platform or say if on all platforms combined]. Breezee’s energetic aura and talent made it easy to stay engaged in the concert. After every song, he would constantly praise Seattle or thank the city for coming, which was a friendly gesture that made the concert feel more personal. Breezee’s next song wasn’t the most popular, but definitely the most trendy on social media. I Think I Like Your Friend has appeared numerous times in romantic edits on platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. Specifically, the chorus is the most famous part, and fans seemed to know the chorus the best as well.
Moving on to the actual concert, Yung Kai came out wearing a fashionable and trendy outfit, including grey long-sleeved shirt, baggy jeans, and sunglasses. His opening song, how do you dance? was an immediate hit, with fans all around singing and dancing along. Yung Kai’s calm and vibrant character helped make the concert more familial, as he also, like Breezee, commented on Seattle numerous times. He said compliments such as “Seattle, you’re so beautiful” or “Seattle, I love you,” which made the crowd go wild. Yung Kai’s next song was listen to this when you’re down <3, which is my (Elina L ’29’s) personal favorite. Looking around, the majority of fans had similar reactions to this song as well. Overall, nearly every fan seemed to know the lyrics to every song, and Yung Kai seemed to be very pleased with that.
Elina: Overall, I think the concert was an extremely enjoyable experience; I would rate it a 9 out of 10! Yung Kai connecting with the audience in Seattle made the concert seem more personal, which I really appreciated as some artists prefer to just perform their songs and move on. While there were some hiccups, such as unclear communication of when the concert would actually start or end, Yung Kai’s energy and vibes easily overpowered them. My personal favourites for this concert were my love my love my love, listen to this when you’re down <3, and the iconic Blue. The merch stand was my favorite, as the selection was vast; I ended up purchasing a shirt, tote bag, and poster.
Cason: One of my favorite aspects of Yung Kai’s concert was the use of lighting in accompaniment with the music. Throughout much of the performance, the frequent energy of the crowd, in combination with the chill, almost mellow performances from the band, helped give a more intimate feel to the concert. Songs like do you think you could love me brought a relaxed, gentle feel, while songs such as wildflower helped to hype up the crowd. The smaller venue allowed for a closer view of the artist, making songs far more immersive. Yung Kai’s unique performing style and impressive vocal ability made for a very enjoyable concert, and fans will certainly leave feeling satisfied with their experience.
