Saint Patrick’s Day Logic Perplexor

Six Lakeside leprechauns (Aoife, Bram, Cormac, Dahlia, Evelyn, and Finnigan) agree to take turns searching for a four-leaf clover on Saint Patrick’s Day. They each choose one shift and one hiding spot: a cave, behind a rainbow, under a bridge, below a waterfall, on a grassy field, or beside a ravine. After all shifts, it is revealed that the leprechaun on the grassy field found the four-leaf clover. Identify who found the clover and during which shift.

Clues (assume all to be true):

  • Aoife was busy polishing her lucky horseshoes from 4:00am-8:00pm.
  • Cormac was on the shift right before Finnigan; Dahlia had a shift sometime after.
  • The leprechaun who had a shift at 4:00pm spent their day under the bridge.
  • Bram’s shift was directly between Finnigan and Dahlia.
  • Finnigan likes to sleep until 12:00pm beside the ravine.
  • Cormac and Evelyn were not in the cave or behind the rainbow.
  • The leprechaun who had the latest shift spent the morning at the rainbow.
  • Evelyn was never at the field.

Answer Key:

  • Aoife looked for the clover from 12:00am-4:00am near the cave.

  • Evelyn found the clover between 4:00am-8:00am on the grassy field.
  • Finnigan looked for the clover from 12:00pm-4:00pm near the ravine.
