Across many different cultures, the number seven is a significant symbol. It marks the rhythm of days in a week, the colors in a rainbow, the continents of our world, and even the foundational notes in a Western musical scale. In the Christian tradition, it signifies the balance between virtues and vices. Therefore, it seems fitting to use seven songs to commemorate 2023.
- Vulnerability — “Human” by Christina Perri
- Sorrow — “Homura” by Japanese singer LiSA.
- Hope — “Cupid” by Fifty Fifty
- Nostalgia — “Yesterday Once More” by the Carpenters
- Longing — “Seasons” by Rival, Cadmium, and Harley Bird
- Determination — “King of the World” by American rock band Young Rising Sons.
- Joy — “Sunroof” by Nick Youre and Dazy
In the harmonious blend of these seven songs, I hope we find a musical compass guiding us through the ever-changing seasons of life and on to 2024.
