March 5 — Chinese classes put on the long-awaited Chinese Lunar New Year assembly in a celebration involving various songs, skits, and dances. Musical performances included Big Fish and Begonia, All of the Lights, Childhood, and more, while Chinese III practiced Tai Chi, and Chinese V performed a skit of To Our Beautiful Innocence (a Chinese TV show).
March 6-8 — After months of preparation, Lakeside students present an impressive performance of the Hadestown play, a retelling of the ancient Greek myth of Eurydice and Orpheus, selling out the theatres.
March 12 — During assembly, Mr. Hartley gives an announcement, congratulating the girls basketball team on winning second place in state, chess winning first and fourth in state, and ethics bowl first in state, in an impressive showing of Lakeside excellence on and off the field.
March 8-17 — The 2025 Special Olympics World Winter Games take place in Turin, Piedmont, Italy. Sports included figure skating, floorball, snowshoeing, alpine skiing, and more.
March 12 — As a Dan Ayrault Memorial Lecture speaker, Gullah-Geechee and Creole storyteller Melba Ayco takes students on a journey through her tap career and founding of the Northwest Tap Connection studio, which aims to promote self-confidence, discipline, and respect for community and culture in young people.
March 18 — In the largest assault since the ceasefire on January 19, the Israeli military carries out shelling and airstrikes over several regions of the Gaza strip, resulting in the deaths of 404 Palestinians.
March 18 — Lakesiders gather in Red Square to sign the final beam to be placed in the frame of the new building. The construction is expected to continue up until the fall of 2026, when students will finally be able to step foot in the highly-awaited building.
March 28 — A 7.7 magnitude earthquake strikes Myanmar, killing more than 5,300 people, and injuring more than 7,800. It is the most powerful earthquake to hit Myanmar since 1912, with strong tremors felt in Thailand and south-west China.
