Sachi, how’s it going?
Absolutely swimmingly. Thank you for asking!
Why is the derivative of ln equal to 1/x?
You’re welcome.
How many oranges is too many oranges?
No amount of oranges is too many oranges. I always eat three mandarin oranges after dinner, and I once had at least eight of them over the course of one day. So if there’s a number, it’s definitely more than eight. I did hear, though, that it’s possible for your skin to turn orange from eating too many oranges (carotenemia), so try not to reach whatever that threshold is.
How to ask parents for Insta on phone?
You’ve got to show them you’re responsible enough to not get too addicted to the app. Let them set a time limit on it (a reasonable one) at first or promise to only use Insta for a certain amount of time. If their concern is about privacy, set your account to private and only follow people you directly know. Whatever their reason is for not letting you get Instagram, hear them out and come up with a solution with their issue in mind. The main idea is to compromise with them: you assuage their concerns in order to eventually get the app.
Is water wet?
Well, I recently had a chemistry teacher explain that water is not wet. So the scientifically accurate answer would be no. But also I think it’s valid in colloquial terms to refer to water as wet because it just makes sense that way. If you touch water, you’d describe it as wet, right?
How do you keep your nail polish on for a long time and not let it chip?? Mine wears off so fast 🙁
Hot take: I actually don’t mind chipped nail polish at all. It’s just part of a natural process. You paint your nails, they stay for some time, they start chipping, and then the color fades away fully. If you’re concerned about chipped nail polish, get some cute acrylic or gel nails! The potential for pretty designs is much higher when you get acrylic or gel nails anyways.
Do you speak marathi?
Do I know you…? These questions are getting more and more personal; I’m supposed to be giving you advice. But yes, I do speak Marathi.
How do you tell someone you like them as a friend without ruining a friendship?
I’m assuming you’re asking for a polite way to friendzone someone. I think the best way to go about this is to be clear and have a conversation with your friend. Explain your platonic feelings to them and emphasize that you want to continue to be friends with them. Be kind, and give them some space as well. It’s going to be awkward, and it may still be hard for the other person to reconcile their own feelings. But honesty is always the right path rather than avoiding the topic. It’s easier for someone to accept a situation if they know you’re being straightforward about it.
What do I do if I’m cooking and the oil catches fire?
Uh oh. That’s not good. How did that even happen? Lock in next time you’re cooking. Turn off the heat and smother the fire (if it’s small enough) with a metal lid so that you cut off its oxygen supply. If the fire is really big, freak out a little and then call someone else (911 maybe — depending on the severity) for help.
How do I balance sports, school, other extracurriculars, and friends?
Ah, the quintessential Lakeside question. It is certainly hard to find a balance between everything in your life. There’s so much to do and so little time. I think the main advice for this is to prioritize your activities and plan out your schedule. Prioritize what is important to you on a given day. Should you study for a math test and skip a day of soccer practice? Should you practice the piano or unwind with some friends on the weekend? Any answer to these questions is valid; you just have to decide for yourself what feels right according to the situation. It’s also worthwhile to plan out your schedule well to include everything you need to do. Each week, create a schedule that includes time to study, time to work on any extracurriculars, time to hang out with friends, etc.
